The Penguins find themselves in the playoff race, and this evening, a new report has linked them to USA Olympian Vincent Trocheck as a potential trade deadline pickup.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a much better position than anyone would have guessed before the year began, as most fans and analysts projected them to be among the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
But because of their strong start, they've maintained a playoff position and would be back in the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
Even though Penguins GM Kyle Dubas would like his team to get younger, they could be considering a major addition at the trade deadline next month.
Per a report from analysts Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano, the Penguins are listed as a potential fit for Vincent Trocheck of the divisional foe New York Rangers, who is now coached by ex-Penguins coach Mike Sullivan.
Trocheck is from Pittsburgh, which would make this a great story. It’s not totally out of the question, either, with the Penguins surprisingly in the playoff mix this year.

GM Kyle Dubas will be hesitant to give up much at this deadline, though. He’s been focused on accumulating assets for the future, which is why it’s hard to see him parting with any for a player who will turn 33 in July. - Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano

Trocheck is believed to want to stay in the Eastern Conference if he's moved.

Vincent Trocheck Could Be Traded From The Rangers

Trocheck still has three years with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,625,000 after this season is through.
So far this year with the Rangers, which is his fourth with the team after signing as a UFA from the divisional foe Carolina Hurricanes, Trocheck has 36 points (12G, 24A).
In 844 career NHL games, Trocheck has 614 points (235G, 379A).
