This Penguins Prospect Is Leading the OHL in Goals and Forcing an NHL Decision

Penguins prospect Jordan Charron is on an absolute tear in the OHL right now, leading the way with 11 goals, which may force the Penguins into a contract.
As the Greyhounds unfortunately lost their game last night, the Penguins' front office certainly must have been impressed. Their fifth-round pick, Charron in 2025, scored his 11th goal of the season, alone in first place in the OHL goal-scoring leaders.
Charron is just one piece of a familiar pattern for Pittsburgh president and GM Kyle Dubas, who wasn't shy about having a deep relationship with Sault Ste. Marie.
Kyle Dubas has a history of drafting player from the Soo Greyhounds
Prior to the Penguins, Dubas worked for several years for the Toronto Maple Leafs and often drafted Greyhounds such as
Rasmus Sandin and Mac Hollowell. Two Soo players were drafted by Pittsburgh last summer, in Charron and
Travis Hayes.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound right winger arrived with the Greyhounds midseason last year from the Ayr Centennials. With only 21 points in 48 games as a first-year player, he's exploded on the scoresheet this season.
Charron has nine of 14 games with a point, and all 11 of his goals are at even-strength, with none on the power play or game winners to date.
If he keeps it up, the OHL's top scorer could very well earn more than notice, he may pressure the Penguins into an NHL deal.
