The Pittsburgh Penguins have some fun games upcoming to end their season, but unfortunately, two forwards may be out towards the end of the year.
While the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, their final few games of the season could be crucial to the future and finding out what works as they look to bounce back in 2025/26.
Unfortunately, ahead of their second straight game with the Chicago Blackhawks, the Penguins have announced two injuries with their latest lineup, revealing that both
Philip Tomasino and
Blake Lizotte were out at practice.
Not many details have been given on either, but given that they're both young and could be solid contributors in the bottom-six moving forward, the chance to miss a game like this against Chicago would be a big one.
In 45 games since arriving from Nashville, Tomasino has flashed immense potential, posting 10 goals and 20 points in that stretch, showing that he has the potential to be the Penguins 3C moving forward if he can get the right opportunities.
In 59 games, Lizotte has tallied the same amount of points on the back of 11 goals, and while his future isn't quite as bright at 27-years of age, he's established himself as a solid fourth liner that could contribute on a great team moving forward.
Sure, there may not be much to play for down the stretch in Pittsburgh for the 2024/25 season, but with plenty of players in the lineup in their early to mid 20's, these games give them an opportunity to prove themselves as pieces of the future, so the hope will be that both Tomasino and Lizotte can get those chances in the final few weeks of the season.
