There is no doubt the Toronto Maple Leafs have a great hockey team, however, the major problem is that they have only won one playoff series with the core four.
At some point, one has to wonder if this team can get it done. Moreover, you have to question whether the players have the motivation to. The Leafs faithful have been Cup starved for 57 years and they are ready for the tides to turn. One person who will have to have a hand in that happening is General Manager Brad Treliving.
Treliving has yet to make a major trade since becoming the GM of the team. However, according to insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, that move could be coming sooner rather than later.
That said, it will all depend on whether or not there is a team looking to make a deal. The Leafs have shopped around guys like Nick Robertson but to no avail. Big trades do not grow on trees and Treliving knows that all too well. Having said that, only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can finally get something done.
