In the midst of the hustle and bustle that the trade deadline season brings, the Toronto Maple Leafs have shared some important news. General Manager Brad Treliving provided an update today on the status of forward Matthew Knies, who exited last night's game following an on-ice collision.

Treliving Offers Update on Knies

At his press conference following the trade deadline, Brad Treliving addressed various matters, including the condition of Matthew Knies. The young forward was forced to leave last night's matchup after a collision and did not return, raising concerns about his availability for future games.

Treliving reassured fans, saying Knies is okay and was sidelined last night purely as a precaution.

«Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving said Matthew Knies "wanted to play" after leaving the game last night, but the team kept him out for precautionary reasons.

"It wasn't necessarily protocol. We just felt the best to hold him out precautionary for the rest of the game."

In addition to today's health update, it was announced that Knies has been temporarily sent down to the AHL. This move is procedural, and it is expected that Knies will rejoin the NHL roster by tomorrow.

Treliving also shared positive news regarding Knies's condition and his anticipated return to the lineup for the upcoming game against the Montreal Canadiens.

This is a significant boost for the Maple Leafs, especially considering their recent acquisition of Connor Dewar was their sole offensive addition. It underscores the team's view of Knies as a vital component of their playoff ambitions.
