Central Division Team Urged to Make Massive Offer to Convince Penguins Legend Marc-Andre Fleury to Unretire
Marc-Andre Fleury retired at the end of the 2025 campaign, but with teams pursuing him, one Central Division squad has been urged to make him a massive offer.
After the 2024/25 season, Marc-Andre Fleury's iconic NHL career had officially come to an end, as he finishes his career as one of, if not the most decorated goaltender in the history of the National Hockey League.
However, there have been some rumours as of late that teams are trying to coax him out of retirement, with one insider noting that there's been as many as five teams in contact with the veteran goaltender since his retirement.
That speaks to the desperation around the league for finding a great goaltender, and while it's unlikely that the Flower will ever return, one team in particular has been encouraged to pursue him on a massive offer.
According to 'Utah on Ice', the Utah Mammoth are the perfect team to encourage Fleury out of retirement, with the young team in need of a leader as well as being set up to compete in a big way in 2025/26.
While they currently have
Karel Vejmelka in net, the team are in need of a veteran backup, with Fleury presenting the perfect candidate, and while it's not yet clear if they were one of the five teams, the fit would be seamless.
Ultimately, Fleury accomplished so much throughout his NHL career, and it makes perfect sense if he doesn't want to go through the rigours of another full season at the highest level, but if there is any team out there that can coax him out of retirement with a big offer, don't be surprised if Utah is one of those organizaitons.
