Major Update as Jack Eichel's Next Move Could Reshape the Golden Knights' Future
Jack Eichel has been a star for the Vegas Golden Knights, and now it appears he's set to stay long-term as the two sides have begun talks on an extension.
The Vegas Golden Knights may have come up short in 2024/25, but with a team full of stars, they are expected to continue competing for a long-time to come in the highly competitive Western Conference.
That level of play only continues if they retain their roster however, and with Jack Eichel set to be a free agent in the summer of 2026, many believe that he could be on the way out and looking to other opportunities.
However, GM Kelly McCrimmon has now all but shut that down, as he has revealed his hope that they can sign Eichel to a long-term extension before his free agency officially arrives.
«Jack loves it here. I would hope we can find common ground and keep him a Golden Knight.»
As for Eichel, it doesn't appear as though he's too worried about his future as of yet, and given all the good things he's said about this team since arriving, it's highly unlikely he's going to walk away now.

Contractually, those things kind of take care of itself and I'll just worry about trying to prepare for next season this offseason and go from there.»
According to David Pagnotta, the two sides are likely to begin extension talks in the coming weeks, and now all signs point to him remaining in Vegas for years to come.
Ultimately, this would be a good move for both sides, as they've combined for a very successful partnership thus far, and with the team continuing to be aggressive in their pursuit of a Stanley Cup, Eichel will continue to be a key part of that.
