Major Development Emerges on Capitals' Goalie Logan Thompson Ahead of Game 4 Clash with Canadiens

Will Logan Thompson dress for Washington's Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens, or are the Capitals playing games? Thompson practiced with the team during the morning skate but did not speak with the media.

Sportsnet's Eric Engels suggests that he "hasn't been cleared yet." The 28-year-old goalie got hurt in the later moments of Game 3 on Friday when he was checked by teammate Dylan Strome while defending a Montreal goal by Juraj Slafkovsky.

Thompson had to be helped off the ice by his teammates, unable to place any weight on his left skate. Charlie Lindgren took his place for the rest of the contest. Strome called the collision an "unfortunate break" after the Capitals' 6-3 loss.

Thompson was not the only netminder to depart prematurely, as Canadiens starting goaltender Sam Montembeault left after two periods due to a lower-body problem.

Jakub Dobes filled in, denying seven of eight attempts in support of the winning cause for Montreal.

Thompson, brought over in the summer from Vegas, was great in the regular season, posting a 31-6-6 record with a 2.49 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 43 games. In the playoffs, he's 2-1 with a 2.73 GAA and .917 save percentage.

The Capitals lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 going into Sunday. Game 4 goes at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
