Minutes into his regular season home debut with the Anaheim Ducks, Radko Gudas endeared himself to the fans in the Honda Center. Gudas signed with the Ducks and brought his reputation for punishing physical play, and lived up to it early on.
Just over 2 minutes into the game, Gudas laid a textbook hip check against Hurricanes forward Brendan Lemieux.
As Brady Skjei played the puck up-ice on the wing to Lemieux, Gudas sized up the play from afar, and as Lemieux received the puck, Gudas moved in for the punishing hip check.
Gudas signed a three year contract with the Ducks this offseason which pays him $4M annually. His role will serve as protection to the younger Ducks and a veteran presence as the team goes through their rebuild.
