In a recent game against the New York Rangers, the Edmonton Oilers faced a significant setback when Mattias Janmark had to leave the ice prematurely.

The winger's exit came after an awkward collision with the boards, during which he appeared to injure his shoulder. Fans took notice when former Oiler Georges Laraque posted photos of Janmark with his right arm in a sling, indicating a potentially serious injury.

This unfortunate development suggests that Janmark might not only miss the upcoming Heritage Classic but also face an extended period on the sidelines.

While Janmark has received criticism from some fans regarding his first-line minutes, the 30-year-old has contributed positively during his time with the Oilers.

While not a top-six forward, he offers value on the fourth line and excels on the penalty kill. Although he hasn't tallied points in seven games this season, he recorded a respectable 12 goals and 25 points in 66 games during the 2022-23 season.

On a more positive note for the Oilers, there's potential for Connor McDavid's return to the lineup against the Calgary Flames.

The 26-year-old star missed the last two games due to an upper-body injury but seems to be recovering faster than initially anticipated.
