The Toronto Maple Leafs faced more adversity today as Morgan Rielly and Joel Edmundson missed practice due to injuries, confirmed by head coach Sheldon Keefe.
After a strong weekend showing against the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes, the Leafs encountered a setback with two key players absent from morning skate.
"Morgan Rielly and Joel Edmundson are NOT on the ice at Leafs skate»
Coach Keefe later revealed that both defensemen are nursing minor injuries. While Edmundson is ruled out for tonight's game, Rielly's status remains uncertain and will be determined closer to game time.
Per Keefe, Rielly is not ruled out for tonight. Minor injury, not illness. If he does not play today, will be day to day. Edmundson dealing with an injury as well but is not available tonight and "wouldn't expect him this week."
Joseph Woll will step up in goal for the Leafs as they prepare to take on the New Jersey Devils in what promises to be an exciting matchup.
