The Toronto Maple Leafs is arguably the most important market in hockey, as the fans and media alike are ravenous for hockey content. Ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks coming to town, many were expecting to hear from Connor Bedard, but the team made a move to protect their young star from the nosy media last night.

This now marks the second time this year a team has restricted press access to their players, the first being the Montreal Canadiens last Saturday. Like the Habs decision, the Blackhawks move too left people confused and disappointed.

First Habs, now Blackhawks make no one available the morning of the game in Toronto Don't know why the NHL allows it It's like the league doesn't want to be covered

The Leafs were available again today Forgive me for thinking the league would want players telling their stories to the people interested in them But two outta three Leaf opponents skipping media the day of the game is a bad look/bad trend

With the Blackhawks in Toronto for practice yesterday, they did have some press availability, but it's incredibly strange that the league wouldn't want to see Bedard under the bright lights in Toronto. It's another example of the poor marketing from the league and its teams for their unwillingness to expose the young star to the media.
