Now the Bruins' new captain, Brad Marchand had his press availability before puck drop in their season-opener against the Chicago Blackhawks. Marchand was asked if he could impart any advice to the rookie phenom, Connor Bedard.
Within the first ten minutes of the game, Bedard got the Blackhawks on the board first with a beautiful wraparound goal for the first of his career. Marchand did what he does best, and began antagonizing Bedard by trying to bring him onto the Bruins' bench.
Now 35 years old and playing in his 16th NHL season, Brad Marchand still hasn't lost the tenacity which earned him the well-known nickname, the rat.
