The Edmonton Oilers began the off season with very few holes on their roster. For the most part, the teams roster was alrady complete and would look very similar to last season with some minor additions. In free agency, the Oilers did manage to land Connor Brown, a player who is coming off a serious knee injury to help with their depth scoring.

For most Oilers' fans the most important piece of this summer was locking up Evan Bouchard. Bouchard is going to be a key part of the Oilers' defense in the future and was always a top priority. Today the Oilers finally managed to find some common ground with Bouchard and were able to get a deal done.

Elliotte Friedman shared the following news this morning.

Sounds like EDM and Evan Bouchard closing in on 2x$3.9M

In 82 games last season Bouchard put up 8 goals and 32 assists for 40 points. Bouchard took big steps defensively as well playing a much larger role for the Oilers.
