Former NHL legend isn't convinced that Adam Johnson's death was an accident
The hockey world has been deeply saddened by the loss of Adam Johnson. His tragic injuries have sparked debate among hockey fans, and recent comments won't make that discussion any easier.
During a TNT Panel discussion on the topic of wearing neck guards, Wayne Gretzky referred to Johnson's death as a 'so-called' accident.
It's uncertain whether the Great One was trying to stay neutral while discussing the incident, but no matter how you interpret it, the use of air quotes and that choice of words is concerning.
When a legend like Wayne Gretzky suggests that this may not have been an accident, it's a risky statement. Especially when the players who were on the ice at the time have described it as a freak accident.
