Recently, Strauss Mann of the AHL's Laval Rocket was credited with a goal he didn't even try to score. In only his 20th game with the team, Mann was able to technically score one of the most rare goals after a brutal play by their opponents, the Rochester Americans.
At time, a penalty was called, and Rochester pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker. As the Americans were pushing for a goal in Mann's crease, but the puck eventually bounced loose. It ended up near the corner after being poked away from Mann's pads, and then taken by the Americans' Filip Cederqvist. Cederqvist, who attempted a quick no-look centering attempt. Instead, the puck went all the way down the ice and into his own net. Because Mann was the last Rocket player to touch the puck, he was credited with his first-ever professional goalie goal.
