As Patrick Kane continues to rehab his hip following offseason surgery, we appear to be getting closer to the 3-time Stanley Cup winner signing a new deal and making his comeback during the 2023-24 season.
At this point, the two favourites are believed to be the New York Rangers and his hometown Buffalo Sabres, but earlier this week, Frank Seravalli mentioned another Atlantic Division team who could make a push to sign Kane.
Kane, 34, had a pretty good season in 2022-23 when you consider the fact that he was dealing with a significant hip issue. In 73 games between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, Kane had 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-22 (largely because he played on a rebuilding Blackhawks team for much of the year).
This will not be a 3-horse race. If/when Kane is ready to seek a new deal, I'd imagine that just about every team in the league will reach out to determine what his contract asks are. Kane is still an impact player, even at 34 years of age.
