The Seattle Kraken were responsible for one of the biggest upsets of the year last season, eliminating the Stanley Cup winning Colorado Avalanche in round 1 of the playoffs. They didn't go as far as they would have liked last year, but with the beginning of a new season, there was hope that they could build off of last year's success in 2023-24.

Unfortunately for the Kraken, their start to the season has been less than ideal, getting off to a 1-4-1 start. Now, if they hope to turn things around, they'll have to do it without one of their key forwards.

In a recent report, Geoff Baker revealed that Kraken winger Andrei Burakovsky will miss the next 6-8 weeks with an undisclosed upper-body injury. If Burakovsky is to be out the full 8 weeks, his timeline for return won't be until around Christmas.

"BREAKING: Kraken have lost forward Andre Burakovsky the next 6-8 weeks with an undisclosed upper body injury." - Geoff Baker on Andre Burakovsky

The 28-year-old winger has appeared in all six of Seattle's games so far this season, racking up two assists and a minus-two +/- rating. He missed a good chunk of the 2022-23 season, as well as the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with a torn groin and setbacks in his recovery, so to be out another six-to-eight weeks this early into the 2023-24 campaign must be devastating for him.

All the best to Burakovsky in his recovery and, hopefully, once he does return to action, he can avoid another long stretch on the sidelines.
