Marc-Andre Fleury makes beautiful save
Three time Stanley Cup champion Marc-Andre Fleury got his first start of the new season as his Minnesota Wild were taking on the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. The 38 year old was sharp when called upon, as he wanted to put on a show in what could be his last trip to the Bell Centre.
With Montreal down by 4-1 and the 3rd period less than 2 minutes old, Fleury turned back the clock with a vintage windmill save on Canadiens defenceman Johnathan Kovacevic to bury out the Wild who had just turned the puck over in their own zone.
Marc Andre Fleury with the windmill two pad stack save! Incredible #mnwild 🌸
The Quebec native wanted to put a show on in his home town province and that mission was definitely accomplished with his 27 save performance, backstopping his Wild to a 5-2 victory.
Fleury will be a sure fire Hall of Famer when his time comes but right now he's in a battle for starts in Minnesota with fellow goalie Filip Gustavsson. If Fleury can continue to have performances like Monday night, the old dog will give the young pup a real run for the number of starts this season.
