NHL alumni announces the passing of another former NHLer
In a week that's been filled with bad news, it has now been reported that former NHL player and coach Wayne Maxner has passed away. Maxner was 80 at the time of his passing.
Maxner began his hockey career with an incredible junior Hockey career. He began his NHL with the Boston Bruins and played there for parts of 2 seasons, from 1964 to 1966. In 61 games he had 17 points.
After playing for the Bruins, Maxner played professional hockey for 10 seasons. He spent time in Canada, the U.S and the Netherlands. Maxner retired in 1974 and went onto coach in both the OHL and the NHL.
Maxner had a lengthy coaching career including 2 seasons as the head coach of the Detroit Red Wings.
Our condolences go out to anyone impacted by Maxner's passing.
