Referee refuses to officiate game until all fans in the arena were kicked out
Anyone who is more than just a casual hockey fan knows and understands that referees take a lot of heat on a nightly basis. Some of the heat is warranted and some is completely undeserved. Seldom, however, do we ever see a referee firing back, especially at a crowd.
Well, there's a first time for everything, I suppose. Over the weekend, an official in Finland actually ejected the entire crowd from a game in Suomi-Sarja, which is Finland's third-tier league.
In the video above, you can see the lead referee stop the game after hearing someone use what sounds like an official's whistle in the stands. Once the whistle had gone off in the stands, an announcement was made over the PA system warning fans that a second whistle from the crowd would result in the stands being cleared and everyone being ejected.
Not long after, you can hear what appears to be another whistle from the stands. The game was stopped and the officials lined up and waited until the stands were cleared before the game was resumed.
It's not everyday that you see something like that. What a wild turn of events. I guess the crowd just caught the officials on the wrong day.
