Yesterday, the Ottawa Senators announced that they would be bringing another new player to training camp next week, signing a 1,000 game veteran to a professional tryout contract.
On their X account, the Senators shared that they've signed the former New York Islander Josh Bailey to a tryout offer, which will see him join the team for training camp and preseason games in an attempt to earn a roster spot.
Bailey, 33 now years old, has spent his entire career in the NHL with the Islanders - but earlier this summer, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations. Shortly after the trade was completed, the Blackhawks bought out the final year of Bailey's contract, making him a free agent on July 1st.
From Bomanville Ontario, Bailey played in 64 games during this 15th season with the Islanders last year, where he scored 8 goals and 25 points, only 2 penalty minutes and was a plus-three. In his best seasons, Bailey was an excellent depth scoring option, often reaching totals around 15 goals and 45 points.
Bailey and the Senators will begin their preseason games on Sunday, September 25th a against their divisional rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
