Yesterday, the Columbus Blue Jackets made a move, putting 28-year-old goaltender Spencer Martin on waivers. The Jackets aimed to assign him to the American Hockey League while exploring trade options for Elvis Merzļikins.

Columbus had picked up Martin off waivers at the start of the 2023-24 season from the Vancouver Canucks, adding a seasoned backup to their roster.
The Oakville, Ontario native has played in 13 games for the Blue Jackets, holding a record of 3-8-1 with a 3.65 goals against average and an .887 save percentage.
Today, the Carolina Hurricanes stepped in, claiming Martin off waivers from Columbus.
