St. Louis Blues lose member of their core before the season even starts
Today the St. Louis Blues season got off on the wrong foot, even before training camp began. The St. Louis Blues announced that defenceman Torey Krug suffered an injury in preparation for the upcoming season and will miss at least training camp.
"Torey Krug suffered a right-foot injury while training for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Krug is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Oct. 1."
If upon further evaluation the Blues feel that Krug isn't ready, he could miss the beginning of the regular season.
Krug is entering his 4th season with the Blues, after leaving the Boston Bruins as a free agent in 2020. Last season was statistically one of his worst years production wise, as he put up just seven goals and 32 points in 63 games.
Krug has four years left on his current contract that carries a cap hit of $6.5 million annually.
The Blues attempted to trade Krug earlier this summer, but Krug blocked it using his trade protection.
