Veteran goalie Alex Stalock decides where he'll play next season
Training camps are set to open in a little over five weeks, on September 12th. As they look to finalize their roster the Ducks announced today that they've officially agreed to a contract with veteran netminder, Alex Stalock. The one-year deal carries an annual value of $800,000.
The 36-year-old who appeared in 27 games for the Chicago Blackhawks finished with a 9-15-2 record. Stalock posted a goals against average of 3.01, and a save percentage of .908 on a very poor defensive team.
While Anaheim's goaltending appears to be set with John Gibson, as the expected starter, Stalock will enter camp fighting for the backup position with 23-year-old Brno, Czechia native Lucas Dostal. This could also be a move made with the idea of moving John Gibson also in mind.
The Ducks currently have too many NHL goalies on one way deals and something has to give.
