Penguins bench boss Dan Muse has been a part of some fierce rivalries during his time around the game, but says the Penguins-Flyers one is unlike any other.

Dan Muse wants the Penguins to ignite more offense as they prepare to take on the Flyers tonight at PPG Paints Arena. He says Stuart Skinner will be in goal, and Muse is hoping to try to jump-start the offense and get it back on track.
This morning's optional skate featured Arturs Silovs, Rutger McGroarty in a white non-contact jersey, Blake Lizotte, Ben Kindel, Ryan Graves, Ryan Shea, Jack St. Ivany, and Kevin Hayes.
Filip Hallander also skated in a white non-contact jersey; he hasn't played since November 3 due to a blood-clot issue in his leg.

What Dan Muse had to say about the Penguins-Flyers rivalry

Muse was asked about the Penguins-Flyers rivalry during his press conference today. He said it's different when you've lived it, instead of looking from the outside in, and he thinks that's a big part of it.
"You know about the rivalry when you're on the outside, just being involved in hockey, but you don't really know until you're here."

- Dan Muse

Muse has been around other rivalries in hockey, but this one had a different tenor, a different feel in the air.
"This has got a different feel to it, though, than anything I've experienced."

Why the Penguins have the tools for success tonight

The Penguins go into the game with attention to offense and energy. With key players back at practice and Skinner between the pipes, Muse wants his team to answer the Flyers' physical, rapid style.
Tonight's game becomes a good barometer to see if the Penguins can elevate their level, bring back the edge in this rivalry, and become competitive once again.
