Anaheim Ducks acquire multi-time Stanley Cup Champion
The Anaheim Ducks and Seattle Kraken have complete a trade involving a two-time Stanley Cup champion.
Brian Dumoulin, who twice previously won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has officially been sent to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
"The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Brian Dumoulin from the Seattle Kraken for a fourth-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft." The Ducks said.
The 32-year-old is still in the first year of a $3.15 million cap hit contract he signed with Seattle in 2023 as an unrestricted free agency. The Anaheim Ducks were substantially below the salary cap floor for the 202425 season both before and after this deal.
In addition to bringing the Ducks closer to the salary cap floor, Dumoulin's addition will provide another experienced player to support younger players like Tristan Luneau, Pavel Mintyukov, and Olen Zellweger, among others.
The Biddeford, Maine native recorded 16 points (six goals, 10 assists), 20 penalty minutes, and a plus-three rating in 80 games with the Kraken the previous season.
