Eastern Conference Team Emerges as Front-Runner for Mike Sullivan

The Pittsburgh Penguins made the long awaited call to part ways with Head Coach Mike Sullivan this past week, but already, teams are lining up to bring in the two-time Stanley Cup winner.

We've already heard from Jim Rutherford, who reveals that Sullivan wants to stay on the East Coast, meaning that the likely suitors are now narrowed down to the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers.

Now, things have been narrowed even further, as insider Vince Mercogliano has revealed that Sullivan has interest in the Rangers job, just days after some speculated that the Rangers and GM Chris Drury will not be outbid for Sullivan's services.

While things were a mess in New York for the 2024/25 campaign, this is a roster still loaded with talent such as Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, Alexis Lafreniere and Igor Shesterkin, and with all of that talent, they simply need an experienced Head Coach to lead the way.

It's unclear what Sullivan's interest would be in the other two roles on the East Coast, but for now, all signs are pointing towards Sullivan heading to The Big Apple, and after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice in the past four years, if he can get the best out of this team, they could be seen as a contender in the very near future.
