After spending last season with the San Jose Sharks, Hoffman was without a new team. Well, the Edmonton Oilers just extended the 34-year-old an offer. As you can see down below, this is going to be a PTO. Essentially, there are no guarantees as it pertains to his contract.
Hoffman knows how to score goals. He has 228 goals & 259 assists in his career, which is pretty impressive. The Oilers are not a team in desperate need of more goal-scoring, but some extra fire power can never hurt.
Having said that, it seems as though fans are a bit torn on this signing. After all, Hoffman has had some real problems in the locker room in the past with the Ottawa Senators. That makes his signing a massive risk, and the Oilers faithful understand that completely. Not to mention, Hoffman is an aging guy and isn't exactly the future of the franchise.
