Mitch Marner called a "toddler" for response to question about Maple Leafs future

Mitch Marner has been a phenomenal player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, although he has certainly had some issues when it comes to the postseason.
However, at the end of the year, Marner will be looking to sign a new NHL contract. Of course, there is some anxiety over where or not the Maple Leafs will be able to retain Marner. If he has a good season with playoff success, it makes it harder for the Leafs to give him up. On the flip side, it makes him more expensive as well.
Today, during a press conference, Marner was asked about his Leafs contract. However, he refused to give an answer and instead noted he is focused on the year ahead.
"I'm not here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about the season."
Unfortunately for Marner, Leafs fans were not kind to him after he made these comments. Below, you can see various NHL fans claiming that this means Marner will move on at the end of the season. Meanwhile, some fans called him a toddler and a cry baby. It seems like some Leafs fans are hoping for him to get gone.
One has to wonder what Marner is thinking right now. Last postseason was a disaster for him and his image. However, this season presents an opportunity for him to come back and show people what he can really do.
