Filip Zadina was taken sixth overall by the Detroit Red Wings all the way back in 2018, however, he never really panned out for the team.
Throughout his multiple seasons, he only scored a total of 68 points with the franchise. Last season, Zadina moved on to the San Jose Sharks, and only managed 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points. Since that time, he has been a free agent, and very few teams have shown interest in giving him a chance.
Well, today it was reported that Zadina signed a new deal with the Buffalo Sabres. Unfortunately, it is a Professional Tryout, or PTO for short. That means that he will have to work to make the team, and nothing is a guarantee.
Back in 2018, there were some who felt as though Zadina was the steal of the draft. That he could be the best offensive player taken. Unfortunately, that has not come to fruition. Only time will tell whether or not Buffalo proves to be the right place for him to finally break out of his NHL slump.
