Former OHL and London Knights goalie Jake Patterson has tragically passed away at the young age of 31, plunging the hockey world into mourning.

The hockey world is mourning after the tragic and sudden passing of former London Knights goaltender Jake Patterson, who died at the young age of 31.
The news has sent a shockwave through the OHL community, leaving teammates and fans stunned, as well as very heartbroken.

Jake Patterson was an OHL champion a little over a decade ago

Patterson was more than just a player; he was a beloved member of the Knights' family, helping them win their Championship during the 2012-13 season.
A Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, native, he was drafted by the Plymouth Whalers in 2010, but spent his entire career in London.
Spanning over 70 regular-season games, his play with the Knights made him a fixture in the organization during a two-year stint where he dominated. He shared the crease with current Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
During the Knights' championship run, Patterson posted a fantastic 1.85 goals-against-average and .929 save percentage, and he became a vital component of the team in the following two seasons.
Although Stolarz was London's go-to starter during the playoffs and game one starter of the 2013 Memorial Cup, Patterson later took over the crease in the team's tournament tie-breaker game against the Saskatoon Blades to advance to the semi-finals.
Despite another incredible performance in the crease, making 32 saves on 34 shots, the Knights fell 2-1, but Patterson gave his team and the city of London some hope in that tournament.
Patterson's legacy as a goaltender in London was short, but it is one of perseverance, reliability, and success. Though his life was cut tragically short, his memory will live on with his former teammates, coaches, and fans forever.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jake's entire family, all of his friends, and the fans who loved following his career. Rest in Peace.
