The 23 year old stands at six foot six 194 lbs and appears to be more of a shutdown stay at home defenseman which is a quality the Maple Leafs sorely lack since the loss of Jake Muzzin. Over the past 38 games this year, he has mustered no goals with six assists but a + 15 with 30 penalty minutes.
It's not uncommon the Toronto Maple Leafs look at the NCAA for prospects and over the past few years, the Leafs have been trading away many of their draft picks as they're trying to win now. It's quite likely that general manager Brad Treliving will continue to go down this road as NHL teams are looking to the NCAA for talent.
