Penguins Rival Stuns Fans - Promising Young Forward Among 3 Players Waived
The New York Islanders, rivals of the Penguins, have waived young forward Marc Gatcomb today, as he was part of three players to hit waivers.
Gatcomb earned an Opening Night roster spot but saw minimal ice time over the first few weeks of the regular season, making only one appearance for the Islanders.
If he clears waivers, he'll likely head to AHL Bridgeport, where he should see more consistent playing time, which is likely what the team wants for him so that he can fine-tune his game.
Pheonix Copley was already waived in October, and then traded
It's been a whirlwind October for Copley, who was placed on waivers by Los Angeles on Oct. 1, then picked up by the Lightning, and then traded back to the Kings on Oct. 15 for future considerations.
Now, the Kings will try once again to get Copley through the minors to AHL Ontario if he goes unclaimed this time around, but that remains to be seen. Despite his constant movement around the league, he hasn't appeared in an NHL game this year.
Andrew Agozzino is a former player of the Pittsburgh Penguins
In terms of Agozzino, a former Pittsburgh Penguin, he played in Utah's first two games this season, but he's been a healthy scratch for the Mammoth's past five contests. If he clears waivers, Agozzino will be reassigned to AHL Tucson.
With Penguins GM Kyle Dubas having the choice between a veteran, a youngster, and a goalie, there is no shortage of options for Pittsburgh if they want to make a waiver splash.
