Reilly Smith traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins have managed to finally find a taker for forward Reilly Smith via trade on Monday.
According to Shayna Goldman of The Athletic, the Pittsburgh Penguins have sent Reilly Smith to the New York Rangers in exchange for a multiple draft picks.
"2nd rounder + 5th as return for Reilly Smith."
Smith, 33, was traded by the Vegas Golden Knights to the Penguins last summer. He provided Pittsburgh's forward group with a reliable depth option, and he probably will again in New York.
Smith finished the previous season with 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists), 18 penalty minutes, and a plus-three rating in 76 games for Pittsburgh.
Prior to the 202425 season, the New York Rangers were searching for some depth for their forward group. The Rangers are hoping to overcome their setback and make their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since they were defeated by the Los Angeles Kings in 2014. This would be their first trip to the Finals since that heartbreaking season's conclusion.
