Three Finalists Emerge in Rick Tocchet Sweepstakes Per Top NHL Insider Darren Dreger

Already this off-season, we've seen two Head Coach vacancies filled with Mike Sullivan in New York and Joel Qunneville in Anaheim, and now it appears that it's just a matter of time until the next big domino falls.

According to reports, it's just a matter of time until Rick Tocchet reveals his future in the NHL after leaving the Vancouver Canucks, with Darren Dreger reporting that there are now three finalists to land the star coach.

Those three finalists are the Boston Bruins, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Seattle Kraken, all with compelling cases to make them attractive destinations to the former Canucks Head Coach.

In his post however, Dreger notes that it's the Flyers who have been most aggressive in pursuing Tocchet, and after showing they were willing to pay up to get John Tortorella, this is the team that will perhaps pay him the most money, as well as giving him the chance to work with rising star Matvei Michkov.

However, it's the Boston Bruins that give him the best chance to win immediately, with stars like Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak highlighting this roster, but in the end, this is a tough choice as all three destinations could end up giving him what he wants in a Head Coaching role.

Ultimately, it appears as though we'll have our answer on Tocchet by the end of this week, and at that time, the Penguins, Canucks and the two losing teams in the Tocchet sweepstakes will need to be aggressive in landing their next Head Coach, but for now, nothing is likely to happen until we learn about Tocchet's future.
