Top Insider Frank Seravalli Calls Out NHL Officials in Blistering Rant

Frank Seravalli has had it with officials in today's NHL, and he went on a public rant where he fully called them out and urged them to be much better going forward.
The largest narrative of this year's NHL season, aside from what's happening on the ice, has been the officiating, or rather, the inconsistency thereof.
Almost every game has been plagued by controversial calls (or non-calls), frustrating fans and media in kind. It's a significant problem that the NHL doesn't seem willing or able to solve, and it's distracting from the game itself.
Bruins GM Don Sweeney once said officials should have post-game interviews
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney suggested in the past having referees available for post-game press conferences to discuss calls.
It's something that would probably be well-received by many fans and media members, but now it may not be enough. The inconsistency with calls has reached a level where more drastic solutions need to be discussed.
One of the most difficult things for officials is merely keeping up with the speed of the new game. When they're worrying too much about not interfering while making split-second calls, no wonder errors are made.
So why not eliminate that hurdle altogether? Rather than having referees on the ice with the players, why not have them off the ice, where they can more easily see the play unfold, just like the home fans?
Even NHL insider Frank Seravalli has spoken out about the refereeing this season, once again showing that this isn't a fan problem, it's a league-wide shame.

The NHL has to do something before all the talk is about how badly the game is being officiated.
Now that one of the top insiders of the game in Seravalli has publicly spoken out about it, hopefully Gary Bettman and the league has taken notice and they can really do something to fix this problem, as soon as possible.
