It's been a little over two weeks since the National Hockey League made the big announcement that Salt Lake City, Utah is getting a new team, and the Arizona Coyotes are going on pause. While it's not exactly a classic move, it sure feels like one. And this weekend, the new Utah team made its first big move by signing a fresh face.

According to CapFriendly, Utah locked in Swedish talent Noel Nordh with a three-year entry-level contract worth $900,000 each season. Nordh was drafted by the Coyotes back in 2023, in the third round, 72nd overall.

"Noel Nordh #Yotes
3 year entry-level
$865k cap hit | $900k AAV

Breakdown each season:
$775k base + $90k SB + $35k GP PB"

At just 19 years old, Nordh spent most of the 2023-24 season playing in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan, the second tier league, with Brynas IF. He racked up 15 points in 50 games (six goals, nine assists), and even chipped in 22 points (ten goals, 12 assists) in 15 games with Brynas IF's junior squad. Looks like he's got some serious skills!

If Nordh doesn't make Utah's roster this October, he'll likely head back to Sweden for another season. But keep an eye on him as he's set to play a key role for Team Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.

The Utah NHL squad is itching to hit the ice strong, and word is they might make some big moves in free agency come July 1st. It'll be exciting to see what General Manager Bill Armstrong pulls off as the team aims to make a splash in their first year in Utah.
