Insider provides update on the stranded Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers' plane was delayed for hours, and an insider has disclosed that the Edmonton Oilers have an advantage coming into game three. Because of the bad weather, they are unable to leave South Florida.
The Florida Panthers were reportedly grounded in South Florida earlier today as a result of a rainstorm passing through the area. Their plane was consequently substantially delayed, and they won't arrive in Edmonton until later tonight—roughly three and a half hours later than expected.
This indicates that the Edmonton Oilers have an advantage in game three of the Stanley Cup Final, especially with tomorrow's early puck drop, according to insider Emily Kaplan.
Hearing the Panthers plane just took off after several delays in South Florida. They won't get into Edmonton until Wednesday night.
Thursday has an early puck drop, 6:20 MT.
The Oilers flew Tuesday and will get two full nights at home ahead of Game 3.
The Oilers departed from South Florida on Tuesday and will have spent two full nights in Edmonton prior to the third game's puck drop.
Considering the circumstances and the cause of the delays, this would undoubtedly be advantageous. Why, in my opinion, wouldn't the Florida Panthers depart earlier today if they were aware that a storm was expected to make it impossible for them to depart on time? It is entirely the Panthers' fault if this does in fact give the Oilers the advantage in game three.
We'll have to wait and see what tomorrow brings, but the Edmonton Oilers will be the fresher of the two teams, and the Florida Panthers also have to deal with the time change, which won't be easy as well. Factor in The Panthers and Oilers are covering the largest distance in Stanley Cup final history, and the deck is certainly stacked against the Panthers to win game 3.
