The #mnwild has acquired defenseman Roman Schmidt from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Boris Katchouk. Schmidt will report to the @IAWild
Schmidt and Katchouk have both had incredibly turbulent seasons and to begin the year were teammates with the Tampa Bay Lightning but will now find new opportunities once again.

Flyers trade Roman Schmidt in struggling prospect swap

Schmidt, 23 began the season with the Lightning in the AHL playing for the Syracuse Crunch.
After just 13 games he was sent to Philadelphia where he played in the AHL for another 16 games before now being dealt again.
At just 23-years-old he still has plenty of potential to play in the NHL eventually but needs to find a home where he can truly develop.
As for Katchouk, at 27 he is starting to run out of NHL chances but did play games for the Lightning this season before heading to Minnesota.
Now, he will head to Philly where he looks to earn an NHL opportunity once again.
Both players likely won't have a ton of NHL impact this season but could be good depth players for Philadelphia and Minnesota respectively as the playoff push commences.
