Top Contenders Surface in Race for Stars' Forward Jason Robertson

In the past week, a surprising name has emerged on the NHL trade block: the Dallas Stars' forward Jason Robertson.

After an 80-point season, the young scorer is reportedly on the trade block, as the Stars don't have much cap space and have other players to sign.

The NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently reported that if Dallas can't free up the cap space, they may have to consider dealing Robertson.

Three top contenders have already been linked to the scoring star: the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins.

With the leadership core of the team aging, the Penguins must make significant moves to get better fast, like we saw with the Washington Capitals last summer. Jason Robertson would instantly become one of the team's top scorers and could help bridge the gap to the next era.

GM Kyle Dubas has the draft capital and assets to make an interesting offer to Dallas, and the pressure to deliver could push him to act aggressively.

The Maple Leafs could lose Mitch Marner this offseason, and Brad Treliving needs to have a plan in place to replace him.

Robertson could be an ideal replacement. Not only would he fit seamlessly alongside Auston Matthews, but he could join his brother Nick if the latter remains in Toronto. To make it happen, the Leafs just need to manage the cap and find the right trade package.

After losing several key forwards over the past two seasons, the Bruins are still searching for a top-line winger. Jason Robertson could be exactly what they need to keep their contention window open. With cap space and prospects available, Boston could quietly become a serious threat in this race.
