Major Shakeup Coming to Buffalo as Sabres Prepare for Big Moves, per Elliotte Friedman

The Buffalo Sabres have been trying hard to get back into the post-season for years now, and according to Elliotte Friedman, big changes could be coming this summer.
For 14 straight years, the Buffalo Sabres have failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and while they've got a solid young core built around
Tage Thompson,
Rasmus Dahlin,
Owen Power and JJ Peterka, they've once again failed to make a significant push for the post-season in 2024/25.
With that core, the team are finally looking to make a push next season, and as a result, they could be ready to move some younger prospects and draft picks to add significant, win-now pieces.
That is a report from the NHL's top Insider Elliotte Friedman, as he notes that the core players in this organization believe this team can win with the right moves, meaning this could add to what is already predicted to be a chaotic summer of moves around the NHL.
Some young pieces that Buffalo could use to swing a trade include Jiri Kulich,
Konsta Helenius,
Isak Rosen and
Noah Ostlund among others, as well as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and while they're not going to move all of those pieces, some combination could get them a solid return.
While it's certainly going to be hard to convince players to come to Buffalo, the core of this team is solid, and if the Sabres can add the right pieces around them, there's no doubting that they could be competing for a Wild Card spot in 2025/26, especially if the league gets shaken up in the way many expect.
