Calgary Flames young prospect rushed to surgery after massive injury
The Calgary Flames have been hit with another injury setback, this time affecting promising young defenseman Jeremie Poirier.
Poirier is now sidelined indefinitely after a recent game with the AHL's Wranglers in Abbotsford, where he suffered an arm laceration requiring surgery.
Selected by the Flames in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Poirier has been making waves in the AHL, currently sitting second in points among defensemen.
His extended absence is a significant setback for the Flames' organization, adding to their growing list of sidelined players due to injuries.
Meanwhile, in the AHL affiliate club, the Wranglers are dealing with injuries to
Axel Hurtig and
Samuel Honzek, who are on the road to recovery.
The silver lining in this situation is that Poirier is expected to make a full recovery, although he will need some time to recuperate following the surgery.
