Young NHL Sniper From Penguins Divisional Rival Requests Trade: Could Kyle Dubas Pull Off a Move?

The Pittsburgh Penguins have done a good job of getting younger in recent times, and with a haul of draft picks ready to go over the next few years, this is a team that could put together a very successful rebuild if they do it the right way under General Manager Kyle Dubas.

Now, Dubas has a chance to add a very talented young player, with reports of Yegor Chinahkov requesting a trade out of Columbus, with the 24-year old reportedly frustrated with his coach to the point of wanting a fresh start.

The Penguins haven't been one of three teams linked to Chinahkov by The Hockey Writers, but at 24-years of age with plenty of potential, he makes perfect sense as a Penguins pickup, especially if the team do end up moving on from one of their veteran wingers in Rickard Rakell or Bryan Rust.

As of right now, neither of those players have been moved, but with Josh Yohe of The Athletic teasing a big move from Kyle Dubas incoming, they could combine that by moving out one of their veterans and bringing in the very talented Chinahkov.

Last season, the 24-year old tallied 7 goals and 15 points in 30 games, with a career high of just 29, meaning that he'll likely be cheap on the trade market, giving Dubas the perfect opportunity to buy-low on a former first-round pick.

Ultimately, the Blue Jackets simply aren't going to give away Chinahkov, as he has immense upside in the NHL moving forward, but if he is indeed available, it's a move that Kyle Dubas needs to be ready to make.
