Goaltending Crisis: Five NHL Teams Interested in Signing Marc-André Fleury

The Minnesota Wild made a Stanley Cup Playoffs push last season, and in their series with the Vegas Golden Knights, we saw the last on ice appearance of Marc-Andre Fleury.

The 40-year old officially announced his retirement from the NHL heading into the season, and after appearing for Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championships, he revealed that his career was all set and he wasn't coming back.

Now however, there's been some interest in bringing him out of retirement, with SDPN reporting that upwards of 5 teams have contacted Fleury and tried to convince him to go around for at least one more year in the National Hockey League.

Even as he entered his 40's, Fleury was still effective on the ice, posting a 2.93 GAA and an .899 save percentage in 26 games played, and while he wouldn't ever be a starter if he did return, as a veteran presence and a 20-30 game backup, there are a lot worse options out there for teams looking for goaltending help.

It's unclear just how emphatic Fleury has been when these teams have contacted him about a return, but at this point in time, all signs point to the NHL's second all-time wins leader remaining retired.

For now, the story has been that Fleury is 100% committed to retirement with no intentions of going back on his word, but with so much interest and teams willing to pay to get him for one final season, there's always the possibility that we see the Flower one more time at the NHL level.
