it was a low-key deal despite Laine being such a talented player. Following his recent on and off-ice struggles, it became clear that the Habs had all of the leverage in this situation. However, General Manager Kent Hughes chose to retain all of Laine's salary. That was the main caveat to the deal, although the Canadiens have the cap space, and overall, this is just a very low-risk, high-reward investment for them.
