The New York Islanders made a big change in the front office this off-season, and now, their new GM has revealed which Islanders are in play on the trade market as he looks to stamp his authority on this organization.
After what was another rough season, the New York Islanders made some big changes to their front office this off-season already, with new General Manager Mathieu Darche ready to make his mark on this team.
He'll have the opportunity to do so with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft, but beyond that, the belief around the league is that there could be plenty of changes incoming on Long Island.
In his latest interview, the new GM made a few things clear about the future of this organization, all while revealing who he believes the 'core group' is for this team, noting players like Mat Barzal,
Noah Dobson,
Bo Horvat,
Alexander Romanov and
Ilya Sorokin as those players.
While that doesn't automatically mean anyone not named is on the way out, it does suggest that they may be open to listening on the likes of
Anders Lee,
Pierre Engvall and others this summer.
In recent years under Lou Lamoriello, this team has been hesitant to sell and make big changes, and now, with the No. 1 overall pick ready to inject some major talent into this roster, it's safe to say that Darche could be prepared to change some things for this organization.
It's unclear who's currently available from the Islanders, but after Darche's comments, the organization are open for business, and it could result in plenty of moves this summer if the deals are right for the team.
