Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn is breaking his silence on the playoff disappointment as well as what the future holds for his status with the team.
What exactly does the future hold for
Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn after an extremely disappointing performance in the Stanley Cup playoffs?
Benn had only 3 points (1G, 2A) in 18 playoff games for the Stars, who were recently eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in the WCF for the 2nd straight year; it was also their 3rd straight trip to the WCF that they couldn't come out on top in.
Benn is also a pending UFA, and right now, his future with the team is up in the air.
I'm going to go into the summer planning on playing next year, and prepare like I do every summer like I'm going to play.
Benn was then asked what he thinks about entering the summer without a contract for next season set in place, but he made it clear that he has no plans on relocating from the only team he's ever suited up for.
I don't know, it'll be interesting. I'm looking forward to it, to be honest. But I don't see myself going anywhere else, this is all I know. So, hopefully we can get something figured out and then I won't have to answer these questions.
Benn's final line, which he delivered with a smile, drew laughter from the reporters in the room.
He's played his entire NHL career with the Stars, who took him with the 129th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
He's appeared in 1,192 career NHL games, scoring 956 points (399G, 557A). His next goal will be his 400th.
