The New York Rangers appear poised to move on from Arthur Kaliyev, whom they picked up on the waiver wire from the Los Angeles Kings but who never really fit in.

The New York Rangers decided to take a gamble on former Los Angeles Kings 2nd round draft pick Arthur Kaliyev, who was taken with the 33rd overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
But he soon found himself waived by the Kings in the final year of his 3-year entry-level contract, and would be on his way to the opposite coast when he was claimed by the New York Rangers.
Despite this, he had difficulty finding a groove with the Rangers and would play in only 14 games with his new team, scoring 4 points (3G, 1A), before an injury forced him from the lineup.
Don't be surprised to see the Rangers choose not to re-sign him, per analyst Jennifer Streeter of Blue Line Station.
After 14 games played, three goals, one assist, 21 shots on goal and an average time on ice of 11:13 per game, Kaliyev left a lot to be desired in his 2024-25 performance.

If General Manager and President Chris Drury decides to let Kaliyev enter unrestricted free agency, the loss of a player who didn't do much more than skate for 14 games wouldn't impact the Blueshirts much at all moving forward.

His time with the Rangers was halted after he suffered an upper-body injury in March and was eventually ruled out for the rest of the season.
Now-former head coach Peter Laviolette described him as a young player with potential who it was tough to see get hurt.
Another young player that we're moving in and out of the lineup. He's done some good things for us and he got back in the lineup, chance to make an impact and that happens. You don't want to see anybody go down, so that's tough.

He's played in 202 NHL games, scoring 75 points (38G, 37A).
