Jason Spezza, who joined forces with Kyle Dubas in Toronto and followed him to Pittsburgh this summer, is now at the center of swirling rumors about a potential return to Ottawa, but this time in a different capacity – the General Manager role.

The recent vacancy in Ottawa has ignited speculations about Spezza reuniting with the Senators, possibly as their General Manager. While Peter Chiarelli's name has been circulating, another interesting candidate is Mathieu Darche, the director of hockey operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Darche had previously interviewed in Montreal when Michael Andlauer still had a stake in the Canadiens, creating some familiarity.

However, an unexpected name in the mix is Jason Spezza. While he may not be the frontrunner for the role, multiple sources have tossed his name into the conversation. Spezza's 11 seasons and 686 games played for the Senators make the prospect of a reunion intriguing.

With his experience alongside Kyle Dubas, Spezza could be a viable candidate for a General Manager position down the road. Given his significant history with the team and the city, it wouldn't be surprising to see him continue to be a subject of interest as the search for Ottawa's new GM intensifies.
